I’m seeking election to the DWP GEC for the first time and if elected along with my Left Unity colleagues and leadership i will work to protect and advance our members interests within the department, fighting more permanent staff, better pay and conditions.
I’m a Socialist and have been a PCS member since starting in the department in 2003 at the Swansea Pension centre, and a PCS Union Representative since 2006 and have held various branch positions and currently a Branch Sec and H&S Lead, I’ve been a left unity member for over 10 years.
A left unity GEC under the current leadership will continue to stand up against the attacks by the government on our members and fight to maintain and improve all current agreements and make sure they are properly implemented within all areas of DWP. A Left Unity will continue to provide clear opposition to the office closures and the threat of any compulsory redundancies as a result, a Left Unity GEC will continue to campaign for a supportive, properly resourced Social Security system, and will fight against privatisation and for increased staffing with permanent jobs so FTA’s being made permanent is a key demand. A Left Unity Lead GEC will continue to work closely with regions and branches to support Reps and Members.
If elected to the GEC i will be part of a Left Unity Group that will give their full support to the campaigning work of the union and its leaders General Secretary Mark Serwotka and National President Fran Heathcote.
Support your Union. Elect all the Left Unity candidates.
