I have been a member of PCS and predecessor Union, CPSA since 1992, became a Health and Safety rep soon after becoming a Civil Servant and joining the Union. I am currently the branch chair for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), East Midlands and Eastern branch, representing members across 8 counties.
I have been the elected President since the CPS became a Group 20 years ago and have also been the lead on the CPS Group Executive Committee (GEC) for Health, Safety and Wellbeing and paralegal issues.
I have been proud to serve on the NEC for 7 electoral terms since 2018 and have worked on the Health and Safety and Bargaining and Personnel Policy Committees, developing key national PCS policies.
I have been Union activist for over 32 years and a member of the progressive Unity group within Left Unity. I am a socialist and have always applied basic socialist principles to my work in representing members at workplace, Branch and Group level both individually and collectively.
Following the deliberate chaos caused by the collaboration of Independent Left (IL) and the Broad Left Network (BLN), who held a majority on the NEC in 2024, the Democracy Alliance majority elected last year steadied the PCS ship. Together we have restored stability and effective decision making at the top of the Union, increased membership, improved the financial position of the Union and actioned an effective organising strategy absent in 2024, due to the behaviour of IL and BLN led branches at national conference that year.
I stand for a united PCS Union, based upon its progressive, founding socialist principles.
If I am returned to the National Executive Committee, I will continue to work hard for our Union and the members we serve and lead; to further our aims and fight for protected and improved terms and conditions. Our priorities are: achieving fair and equal pay; protecting our pensions and the compensation scheme; health, safety and wellbeing at work, and the recruitment of new members, representatives and advocates to stabilise and build the future of PCS.
Please vote for me and the other Democracy Alliance candidates
