My name is Sian Thomas, I am asking you to vote for me this year in the DWP Group Executive Committee election.

I work in Pembroke Dock West Wales.  

I have been a PCS Workplace Representative for over 20 years. For the last 10 years I have been Branch Secretary, I am currently also DWP Wales Secretary and have served for over 10 years on the Group Standing Orders Committee.

I have a strong uncompromising voice that puts the members first in every instance. I am immensely proud of my history of helping members with their personal issues and cases. A strong rep in every workplace is the fundamental part of building our Union.

I have encouraged many members to become activists and to get involved with the union particularly from underrepresented groups.

We need a union that stands up for members. The current LU leadership we have is the key to moving forward. We have negotiators who can tackle demanding situations and encourage positive discussion with members in branches.

Change in our department needs to be carefully managed members are under continual stress, this is particularly apparent in UCR and Job Centres where the relentless target driven work and pace of change is taking a clear mental toll on members, many of whom are trying to live on minimum wage and claiming the benefits they administer

I am a conscientious and diligent worker for the Union I am a member of Left Unity and a Socialist. I ask you to vote for me and the following candidates who are committed to work together for the benefit of the membership.
