Ros Hewitt for NEC 2026

I joined the Lord Chancellor’s Department in July 1989 and the union shortly after. I have been an active member since. I am a socialist and proud to be a member of PCS and a member of the Democracy Alliance which puts equality and the needs of our members at the heart of decision making. I feel privileged to have been on the NEC previously and am asking for your vote to be elected again.

I believe that a strong union is essential to win improvements to members’ terms and conditions. I fully support industrial action where this is necessary to further our aims. I was proud to be on the picket lines in 2023 with comrades fighting for a real cost of living pay rise and I would support industrial action to get a cost of living pay rise this year.

It was Democracy Alliance members of the NEC who fought for an end to the levy, who last year stood on a platform of refunding levy payments and who, when elected, put in place the mechanism to make those refunds. This year the alliance has been working to establish a sustainable fighting fund to enable the union to pay strike pay to those members who need to take industrial action to challenge office closures and other unreasonable employer decisions. Our stand on issues important to our members has grown the membership.

As an NEC member I have stood up for Palestinian rights and stood against the growth of the far right in keeping with the union’s policy on anti-racism and anti-fascism.

I support job security, fair pay, and a good work-life balance.

If elected I will continue working to ensure this union delivers real benefits for members.

To win in the current financial and political climate we need experienced representatives with proven track records. We need an effective national campaign that unites members and that members have faith will deliver financial and other benefits. We need greater youth engagement, we need older people like me and we need our members to vote in elections.

The Alliance for Change headed by BLN/IL is a front for both the Socialist Party and the Alliance for Workers’ Liberty. They use PCS as a platform for discord amongst activists. For them it is party first, PCS members second. Reject that division, elect the Democracy Alliance candidates below.

Your vote is important. Please use it. Vote Democracy Alliance.
