I’m proud to stand for Left Unity as DWP GEC Ordinary member. With 30+ years dedicated membership, and strong commitment to justice and equality, I work tirelessly to advance the work of PCS for its members interests, particularly during the last 2 years on the GEC attending all meetings and working hard on my assigned duties for OPS TUS, Personnel, Black member subcommittees.
I have various TU roles – Site Rep, outgoing Branch Treasurer and incoming new Branch Secretary, Regional and GEC work by:
· Organizing new signatories for union bank,
· Arranging for new treasurer to be nominated.
· Completing end of year accounts simultaneously to present at the AGM.
· Working on a branch merger.
· Dealing with complex, geographically huge expansion of TUS branch and region impacted DWP boundary changes.
· Reporting for and to the GEC at Regionals and National Black Members Fora.
· Supporting members on personal cases
· Taking part in new staff union inductions and will be starting HR Surgeries for managers.
· Actively promoting campaigns, attend national protests, organising and standing on pickets.
· Attending Regional equality meetings

I was honoured to speak on PCS Facebook live event for Islamophobia Awareness Month where I delivered a powerful account about my personal experiences, mentioning my late father’s time in the British Army which was well received and appreciated. I also wrote a blog which was posted on PCS socials.
I delivered an equally compelling personal account for International Women’s Day as a guest speaker for the Group Women’s Advisory Committee Lunchtime Live event on Teams, alongside the group President. Again, received positive feedback.
For DWP Ballot, I undertook training, recruiting, mentoring, updating Digital Records, leafletting locally and nationally, making Movement calls on Saturdays and evenings, getting involved in PCS Socials and providing national GEC support.
Additionally, privileged to attend Parliament to present the PCS Alternative Social Security, participated in the National Disability Equality Seminar and speak on important motions at the Annual Group and National Delegate Conferences.
Being a part time, brown, working mother, with a hidden disability, I amplify the voices of the underrepresented, advocating equality.
Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Nasrin
