Moe Brasier for DWP Assistant Secretary 2024

I’m seeking support for re-election to the post of DWP GEC Assistant Secretary, as a Left Unity member. I am a long-standing TU Rep, DWP North-West Regional Committee Chair and a current Group Assistant Secretary.  I’ve been a rep for most of my working life both in the public and private sector. I joined CSA as a call handler before becoming a team leader.  I currently work for the Independent Case Examiner’s office.

I wish to thank all our members for the support and solidarity they showed last year, resulting in an increased pay offer and the one-off cost of living payment.  Although this wasn’t enough to address the chronic needs of all our members, the government would never have considered such payments if PCS members had not shown such strength.  We must build on this by telling the government, whoever that may be after the upcoming election, that we can’t deliver a decent service to the public without more staff.  We will do this if we ensure we all act as one and encourage all our colleagues to get involved. Talk to your colleagues, encourage non-members to join, encourage colleagues to share PCS circulars and let’s ensure we get as many members as possible along to meetings so that voices are heard loud and clear. Most importantly, make sure we get out there and vote, to show how strong that feeling is.

A Left Unity led GEC will continue to challenge the employer on the most important aspects facing members today, tackling poor pay, fighting for the return of the pension payments which we have been overpaying for years, fighting inequality and campaigning for more staff. A Left Unity led GEC will continue to listen to members. I hope you will give me, and my Left Unity colleagues, the opportunity to continue to represent your interests at all levels.
