Marie McDonough for PCS NEC 2026

I am seeking re-election to the NEC based on almost 27 years’ experience as a union activist, Socialist and Left Unity member.

It has been an honour to represent you at the NEC this year and as part of my duties I have worked on Health and Safety and within the equality Women’s Forum helping to deliver the seminar and encouraging women in our workplaces to be involved and organise.

I have been a Civil Servant for 45 years and I have held union posts at every level in PCS.

25/26:

NEC member

DWP Vice President

Departmental Trade Union side Chairperson since 2023

Branch Secretary DWP Sunderland-950 members

DWP NE Regional Assistant Secretary

Elected PCS Northern member.

I am an experienced and hardworking rep that negotiates and consults at DWP level, chairing three unions PCS, FDA, Prospect across all DWP terms, conditions, HS, estates, and departmental changes.

Director level consultation is part of my VP role, and I have held responsibility across five operational directorate areas fighting for correct staffing levels, workloads and ensuring correct HS and risk assessments take place in workplaces and outreach.

I am proud of my record supporting members in personal casework, especially in equality, and I will continue to work closely with branches, regions, countries, and the union leadership organising for our members whilst sharing my experience by recruiting and mentoring reps to strengthen our union.

There is more to win in 2026/27.

Wins can be achieved by electing a NEC working for members interests.

I am asking you to support all our Left Unity reps working in the Democracy Alliance.

Our union increased in membership to over 190k regaining membership losses presided over by the previous leadership.

I pledge to work to achieve:

Fair pay and Pensions

Defend jobs, services, conditions.

Champion equality and diversity

Oppose compulsory redundancy and office closures!

Strengthening PCS.
