Levoy Getton for DWP GEC 2026

I am asking for your support to be re‑elected as an Ordinary Member of the DWP Group Executive Committee. I have been a proud PCS activist for many years, and I currently serve as the Group Equality Officer, Chair of DWP Avon & Somerset Branch, I also lead in equality locally. I also represent the Southwest on the National Black Members Committee.

My activism has always been rooted in core Left Unity principles: collective strength, solidarity, equality, and a union led by and for its members. PCS LU believes that we win when we organise — and every piece of work I do reflects that.

This past year has shown exactly why PCS needs a strong Left Unity leadership. Management have pushed harder than ever to chip away at the rights and conditions our members depend on — especially around pay, reasonable adjustments, hybrid. Together with local reps and members, we stood firm and stopped attempts to remove vital support. This is what Left Unity and our leadership looks like: defending, resisting, and delivering for our members

I have also consistently challenged Islamophobia, racism, and all forms of discrimination not only in our workplaces. PCS Left Unity has always taken equality seriously, not as a slogan but as trade‑union work. Our lunchtime equalities sessions, branch campaigns, and regional engagement have empowered members who often feel unheard.

PCS nationally — under Left Unity leadership — has pushed back on unsafe staffing levels, low pay, attacks on pensions, and the erosion of terms and conditions. We secured concessions the employer never intended to give. We forced movement because LU campaigns are serious, strategic, and rooted in workplace organising.

But the fight continues. The cost-of-living crisis, increased pressure on DWP staff, and ongoing attempts to worsen our conditions mean we need an even stronger and more determined LU-led GEC.

If elected, I will:

  • Strengthen PCS DWP Group’s role in the national campaign for fair pay, safe staffing levels, and decent pensions
  • Build equality activism so equality is embedded into every campaign, not treated as an add‑on
  • Prioritise organising among young members and under‑represented groups to build long-term union power
  • Support the leadership of General Secretary Fran Heathcote, National President Martin Cavanagh, and Group President Angela Grant who continue to deliver a fighting, democratic, Left Unity–led PCS
  • Defend members facing discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment whenever and wherever it occurs

PCS Left Unity represents the only consistent, principled, and effective leadership in our union. We fight — and we win — because we stay united.

Support Your Union. Support Left Unity.

Members need strong, proven leadership in DWP. Please vote for the Left Unity candidates below.
