James Cox for NEC 2025

I’ve worked in the Civil Service and been a member of PCS since 2001.  I have spent all of that time in the Home Office, working between Croydon and Central London.  I have been an activist since 2003 and have held positions both in my branch and nationally in the Home Office Group.  I’m currently the Branch Secretary in Croydon and have been Group President in the Home Office for the last six years.  I’ve also served on the NEC for two years, and just been called up this year.

In the Home Office we have grown our membership following a 7% average pay award.  Whilst the change in government has confirmed the end of the Rwanda scheme and Minimum Service Levels affecting members in the Home Office, the toxic debate around asylum persists.  I’m proud of the work we have done around safe passage and to create a new narrative around asylum.
