Irene Dickens for DWP GEC 2026

I am asking for your support for re-election to the GEC. I have been a dedicated and committed PCS representative for many years and taken an active  role in PCS for the service of our members.

I am the NW Regional Health & Safety Committee joint chair. I am Deputy Chair of my branch. I am the Health & Safety officer for my branch.

Being a member led union has always driven me to fight for our members and not be driven by outside interests or parties. By being a united group we can negotiate with the employer from a position of strength.

I am currently my branch Health & Safety Officer, I am passionate about ensuring our workplace is safe for staff and customers.

I have experience of negotiating with senior leaders in many areas, representing and delivering positive results for our members is what drives me in my various trade union roles. Since my election I have been active during management meetings. I am vociferous in speaking for our members to protect their rights. Communicating with members is essential to maintain members confidence that the GEC is fighting for them. I use all communication methods to share my work.

I thrive on supporting members on personal cases and any employee relation issues which include regular correspondence with line managers and decision makers to ensure our members are treated in accordance with the law.

Unfortunately despite management assurance it is being taken seriously we are still seeing increasing cases of bullying, harassment. I continue to support members to get justice and for negative behaviors to end. I have continued this whilst on the GEC and can say I am proud to be a member of Left Unity.
