Hannah David for Vice President 2024

I ask again for your support to be elected as Vice President. I am an experienced activist within the union movement, and I am proud to have served as National Vice President, acting President of the Culture Group, and Chair of the South West Region for PCS and the TUC and as Branch Secretary.

I have represented members and at all levels and I know the importance of us being a democratic, member led union. I have worked tirelessly as part of a leadership that has made us a respected, fighting union, as we must continue to be. I am a lay rep and I know the importance of working and speaking with all of our members. I am proud to have helped lead PCS in our biggest ever campaign, with so much success and so many members showing their strength. In the year ahead I am excited to work to make sure we continue to advancement in our national campaign, our branch negotiations, and for every member in their workplace.

As a long-standing member of the Culture Group Executive, I stepped up from Vice President to help acting President. We are one of the most diverse groups in PCS and I have had first-hand experience supporting members across the civil service, ALB’s, Charities, and the private sector. I have been honoured to support our Group at a time of great change and activity with highs and lows including newly recognised branches, the loss of long-standing executive members, changes in our branch makeup, hugely successful strikes and rallies at the British Museum and British Library. I will continue to do so as we fight at the National Museums Liverpool for the £1500 cost of living payment and against the Welsh Governments devastating cuts to culture.

As Chair of the Disabled Members Forum and the Climate Change and Environment Forum I have engaged with members, helped build campaigns and events that reflect our priorities, represented us externally and built solidarity with other groups to build our profile. I have led in the organising of events such as BSL taster sessions, our National Disabled Members Forum and Green Reps Forum. It is important we continue to build, grow member participation and the influence of our union in these key areas.

It is a crucial time to be active in our union and in the wider movement. I have represented us at many solidarity events with other unions, Trades Councils, and the TUC over the years, including Tolpuddle Festival and the Cheltenham march and rally to mark 40th anniversary of the ban at GCHQ. I have supported the important decisions we have made against Rwanda Deportation policies, for anti-racist, environmental, and anti-war campaign groups and championed the importance of our continued support in these areas.

My record shows I will be a voice for all members at all levels of our movement, from the TUC and NEC down the branch across all types of employer and member. I will continue working to build unity and strength in the union and in the wider movement. I will continue to be a strong, supportive and visible representative of our union.
