Claire Keenan for HMRC GEC 2024

joined the Inland Revenue now HMRC back in 1985 and became an active rep in 1986. I’m currently branch organiser for Stratford branch, group organiser and a member of the current NEC.

I’ve seen many attacks on the HMRC workforce over the years, but nothing like we’re seeing now. And it’ll only get worse unless we fight back. To lead that fight back, you need a GEC that’s all action, less talk, not the other way round!

I was raised in a socialist home, and I was taught to understand what the issues are and fight back. I’ve been listening to members and campaigning and fighting on your behalf for decades, saving jobs and improving terms and conditions in the workplace. And I’m not planning on stopping.

Populist politics is all about getting people in power because they look right, talk the talk, but this has ended up with the likes of u-bending Sunak and Starmer.

You can trust me when I tell you that everyone standing alongside me in Left Unity is a listener and a fighter – socialists who listen to members, lead the fight back and take action to get what’s right.
