I have been a PCS rep at Ofgem for 6 years, and I am seeking your vote for my re-election to the NEC for a second year.
Locally
At Ofgem, I am proud to be a part of a Branch Executive Committee that took members into our first local dispute over pay, jobs, conditions, and industrial relations. We have smashed strike ballot thresholds consistently, and during our dispute have won concessions and I am confident there are more to come. As branch organiser, I’ve helped drive the growth of our membership by 36% this year and have overseen lively, active picket lines during our strike days. I excel at organising, with an engaged branch (130 attendees to our AGM of 900 members) and I strongly believe every branch can have this same success.
Nationally
I firmly believe unions are the organised body of society that will combat many of the inequalities we see today.
I regularly attend anti-fascist demonstrations outside hotels housing asylum seekers in Falkirk and faced right-wing agitators who attempt to document pro-trans activists, who subsequently posted me onto their YouTube channels. I bring along our advocates too to grow our movement and because I would never ask someone to do something I wouldn’t do myself. I take these actions not to have as examples to use for an election address, but because I fundamentally stand against oppression and believe deeply in showing solidarity to the most marginalised.

On the NEC I sit on the National Black Members Forum, and the Health & Safety Subcommittee; these are linked. Our politically Black members are not safe in or out of work. Safety risks may come from the public or (devastatingly) their own colleagues and employers. I have represented Black and minoritised members in my own time because no one deserves to feel alone, and I want to get to a place where workers are punching up at the wealthy elite and not across at each other.
I believe I am analytical, fair, and I am so proud of my council estate, daughter to a single immigrant mother roots. I know well that our society needs socialists like myself to improve our quality of life. Our members skip meals and can’t afford to heat their homes, I am proud to have seen Left Unity offer Levy refunds to those who need it and strategically thinking ahead is in all of our best interest to win any national campaign.
PCS has a strong reputation to be proud of and I hope to continue building our powerif you elect me and the comrades on the Left Unity Slate to the NEC this year:
