A PCS representative of seventeen years, I am honoured to have been elected to several posts. I now sit as Branch Chair, DWP Group President and NEC member.
I am asking for your support for re-election to the NEC and in doing so, I will re-affirm my loyalty to you, to PCS members, and to no outside agency. I am a member of PCS Left Unity (LU), the true socialists in our union that remained loyal to members following the tumultuous split created by an outside party, one that seeks to divide and control our union as its agents work from within.
Through 2024/25 a number of those agents were elected to the NEC where they brought intransigence to every meeting. PCS was forced into a period of untenable stagnation and membership decline.
I am extremely proud to be a part of the Democracy Alliance (DA) that when returned to a majority, saw papers again moving through NEC meetings, the union once again a hive of activity, with membership figures growing month on month, now sitting at 190,000.
The LU/PCS Democrats alliance fought off right wing attacks in PCS’ early years, and we will continue to fight off all attacks against our members today.

In the outside political space, as Government approaches the third year of its term, we continue to see workers being failed and services in crisis. The worrying escalation of war is having a serious knock-on effect to our economy. The rise of the far-right on our streets and in Parliament has brought a real and existential threat to women, to our Black community, and to our disabled, LGB, Trans, and non-binary communities also. Citizens cannot even choose their hair colour now without facing attack from keyboard fascists.
We need a strong, active PCS that can hit the ground running, that is ready, willing and also able to defend you in all areas. I believe I have proven my ability to stand for you and I promise that if elected, I will continue to demand protections inside and outwith the workplace, to represent you in front of the employer, at street demonstrations, and in parliament when required.
Government’s continued refusal to implement their promise of the ‘biggest wave of insourcing in a generation’ has seen Capita win the Civil Service pensions contract; a company whose well‑documented incompetence has created a crisis for our retiring members and for those seeking partial retirement. Dedicated Civil Servants are left without pension payments or unable to access quotes they need to plan their futures. Then government gave Capita our payroll.
If re-elected, I will ensure that when failures occur, your needs are kept front and centre of the NEC agenda, I will work with the national union to demand supportive measures are put in place whilst we work proactively to press for insourcing of public services.
We are seeing detrimental changes to welfare services that might result in loss of life. Changes that will have a direct impact on our vulnerable communities and PCS members also, as the threats come into our offices. I was proud to be a part of the decision to put pressure on government to amend the worst aspects of new legislation.
I spoke alongside DPAC at Parliament Square as we heard we had forced a softening of the cuts to PIP, but we still have a way to go. I will continue to work with the National Union and disability Groups to win a fit for purpose social security service with support at the time of need, so citizens are not living hand to mouth, being forced to vent their frustrations on public servants.
I fully supported the decision to enter pay talks with the Cabinet Office. Constructive, meaningful discussions are underway. We await the pay remit with anticipation, whilst keeping our focus firmly on the national campaign.
Despite divisive claims from opposition factions the DA has supported every legitimate strike submission received. #PCSonStrike continues to showcase across social media and being fully supportive of PCS members’ right to withdraw our labour, I will continue to support all legitimate strike submissions.
To support future industrial action, the DA NEC has worked hard to build consensus across the factions on a sustainable fighting fund. Typically, while those agents of outside masters repeatedly call for strike, they have refused to work with the DA to reach that consensus. Creating division continues to be their modus operandi as they continue to argue that returning levy payments was wrong. I fully supported the move to honour the DA pledge and refund the overpaid levy and I remain fully committed to working to build a strong, sustainable fighting fund.
As a mixed-race woman that fully embraces my heritage, I know discrimination. I have been proud to sit on an NEC that is actively anti racist, that demonstrates for an end to the genocide in Palestine and for a welcoming immigration system with safe routes for seekers of asylum. As the far-right continue their fascist rhetoric, members voiced difficulties with knowing how to challenge their lies and misrepresentations. I am again extremely proud of the PCS Anti‑Racist, Anti‑Fascist (ARAF) strategy which fully supports members in having those difficult conversations. I will continue to promote the ARAF strategy amongst members and the wider union movement both to help with the argument against racism and fascism and to showcase PCS’ excellent work.
As NEC delegate to the National Black Members Committee have also spoken at Black Workers TUC on the policy that is seeing thousands of workers forced out of public services under the racist Visa Sponsorship scheme, where this government have piggy-backed the anti-immigration stance held by the Tories and Reform. I will continue to ensure PCS is heard in the wider TU arena.
A strong equality advocate, there has never been a time I have failed to stand for justice and fairness for members that have protected characteristics, and also for those that have none.
I stand for every PCS member, and am asking now that you support me in this election, along with all on the Democracy Alliance team, so we can continue to support you.
