Adam Smith R&C

For R&C Assistant Group Secretary

Adam has worked consistently over the last twelve years to represent members locally, regionally, and nationally.

In 2018, after a number of years as Secretary to the Group Health and Safety team, Adam was elected to the Group Executive Committee and became an Assistant Group Secretary in 2020.

Adam is the lead for Estates and for Health and Safety, a role he held from the start of the Covid pandemic, working in the best interests of members and together with H&S Reps to ensure people are as safe as they possibly can be while at work and in the workplace.

Adam regularly negotiates improvements to HMRC policies, escalates significant health and safety issues to senior management, has secured increased protection for members against detrimental working conditions, and supports Local and Regional Health and Safety Committees in taking forward unresolved concerns.

Adam also works closely whenever possible with the Scottish Hazards campaign, is a frequent delegate to local and national Hazards Conferences, and is a Mental Health Advocate. Adam is based in the newly merged PCS Glasgow branch, formerly of Cumbernauld, and has previously been a member of the PCS Scotland Committee.
