For R&C GEC

I am standing for re-election to this year’s GEC, having been involved in PCS for many years.
I am based in the South West as a Designated Homeworker following the disastrous BoF closure of all its Offices west of Bristol. I have held several positions at office, regional and national level. I currently have the honour of being a Constituency Rep in my Branch.
As an experienced activist in PCS, I have represented members at GEC Level for 5 years in various Business Streams. These last 12 months assisting negotiations in Large Business, Chief People & Chief Finance Office, as well supporting the Groups Organising strategy to build up our new Reps through the Branches and Networks.
Also, I have previously served for many years on the Groups: –
Disabled Member Advisory Committee & Standing Orders Committee.
I continue to represent members in Regional Health & Safety Negotiations, as well in complex personal case work across PCS.
The GEC must act as a robust body fighting for everyone to be treated fairly. This year will see the Pay Negotiations needing to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, but also the ongoing imbalance of pay rates caused by no established progression for colleagues to achieve the maximum Pay Rate as advertised in most Grades.
I am passionate and committed to Campaigning & Organising:
- to ensure pay progression is reinstated in HMRC.
- for improving the dialogue & interactions between Members/Branches & the GEC
- for defending all working rights, maintaining safe workplaces/working environments
- for improved working rights for carers/part time workers/disabled members.
As a GEC & Group, continue to challenge for Tax Justice, highlighting the continuing lack of staff resources & more adequate training needed to enable the Tax Gap to be tackled for the benefit of our Public Services finances.
